you know, my mother always swore that Effie was a lesbian who married Marion for the money/power

A number of older women in the neighborhood (and a few of my clients) have espoused this theory though I've never run across anyone with upclose and personal experience to verify it.

It's nice to see some brave pretenders trying to make it interesting.

meara, I plan to. Dr appointment is at 2 today.

I'm so self-involved today. Sorry. Hope the coffee and back-to-work blues ease soon for those so afflicted.

Mostly lurking...

It is actually pretty cold here today. I'm actually a bit thankful for that, since it was SO FREAKING HOT on Saturday. I thought I was gonna die on the non-air conditioned island.

I will never be competing on Survivor. That's for sure!

d, feel better!

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

meara, nice tattoo! vw, glad to hear that coffee has been achieved. It's too hot here for autumny anything ... although it's supposed to cool off by the end of the week. Kristin, I couldn't see the pictures of your kitten, but I'm sure he's cute. I'd heard th Effie Barry rumor ... perhaps she merely looked but didn't touch (like in the many museums in town). Teppy, sorry about the back, but glad to hear the boy is taking care of you.

And, for cross dressers of the world, please try to use some taste in choosing your clothing! something that fits, is clean, and doesn't allow me to check out your gender on the escalator would be appreciated!

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

d, hope you can get to the doctor and get what you need to get over this nasty sore throat soon.

Teppy, how's your back doing? Better, I hope.

Nora, I know just what you mean about missing the man when you have to go back to work after a vacation.

Harvey and Sammie were obviously neither sulking at us yesterday, nor desperate and clingy when we got back from the weekend with Daniel's family. But Harvey for darn sure needed to get under the covers with me this morning, and he's all over me now, too. Sammie even slept curled up right next to me for a while, when she usually sleeps next to the giant stuffed tiger on the head of the bed - a vantage point very handy to the window as well as tiger snuggles and the occasional petting.

The name un-change is moving apace...as is evidenced by Beej now coming to you as bonny fides. (for purposes of address, the 'fides' need not be included)

It's delightful how easy the transition has been over the past few days. There has also been a good deal of validation for the rightness of the choice...which might be more about having caring people around me than it actually being technically good choice, but I suppose, in the end I win either way.

ION, the two week swelling in my ankle seems to have been vanquished by Aleve (tm) and a compression bandage. More win! And time to get back to walking, given the Marathon is only 7 weeks away. gulp

Thanks for the switch-assist ita. That was fast!

eta: because swift and switch do not equal swith.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Teppy, how's your back doing? Better, I hope.

It feels a lot better today. Yesterday it was the kind of back-thrown-out pain where it's more or less fine if I'm standing or lying down, but the pain comes in the transition -- like sitting down, sitting up in order to stand up, etc. *That* caused the gasp-in-pain response.

Today, it just feels sore, like it would if I had worked out too hard or something. I can go from sitting to standing and vice versa without that gasp-in-pain type of pain. So, improvement.

I'm still downing ibuprofen like it's M&Ms, though.

Glad it seems to be improving for you, Steph.

Bonny, I think it's good you are reclaiming your name. Good luck in the marathon. I think it's really impressive.

Damn mosquitos are biting me. I am inside. This is so wrong.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Yay marathon! Yay better back!

My Sunday sucked. Well, the Packers and the Seahawks won, so that was good, but I had what I think was food poisoning. Either that, or I'm allergic to Fernet, and that would be a tragedy.
