See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Karl, dear!

::tacklehug::

And now I have to go because Matilda is fussing and grumping and needs a bath to soothe and mellow her, but I had to get in a tacklehug before I left.

Tons of ~ma to GC and GF and GF's family.

Let's go, Yankees! Clap, clap, clapclapclap

CLAP CLAP CLAPCLAPCLAP

AT&T is stopping Time. [link]

Well, the fundies had that one all wrong...

To update the maxim, rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for Microsoft to have a good quarter.

So not rooting for the yankees is like thinking this is the year when the Comodore 64 makes its big comeback?

****

Trudy, I hope your tooth is okay. How's your hip??

My dentist was able to see me right away, thank heavens. I got into the chair and asked "Am I going to make it to karate tonight?"

Somewhere an angel got its black belt.

Fortunately, the break felt much worse than it was due to a funny angle thing. He was able to repair it in about half an hour without any anesthesia. I made it to class and got to do round kicks again!!!!! (hip is better too!)

Its a sad day when I pass up the chance to pout for some vicodin.

Mostly lurking...

FUCK. 4-Alarm fire down the street. I avoided it, by turning early, on my way home from prayer meeting. I saw police car lights in the rotary, so I turned to avoid it.

Two fire-fighters have died fighting it.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

It's burned 6 buildings, and is across the street from where we eat brunch every Sunday.

FUCK.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

eta: oh, dear, vw. Stay safe.

Ok, I have an ethical question. Or, rather, series of questions.

I am planning on getting a pair of cats (so they can keep each other company).

I will go to 1 of 3 places:

1) Ft Wayne Animal Control
2) Noble County Humane Society
3) Ft Wayne (or Allen County, I forget) SPCA.

I can make an argument that the Animal Control cats have less shot of being rescued and I should go there, but there's also the "the HS people are doing good work I want to support" argument. Which could also go for the ASPCA, but they can be a bit much, as a total organization

And get either

1) 2 kittens (likely litter-mates)
2) 2 adult cats (who get on well)

Adult cats are less likely to be adopted by others, but I have this dream of trying to toilet-train kittens. Plus, kittens! The other option is, apart from the pet store (with animals from the Pound), the places will have both, and just see who "speaks" to me, as it were.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Oh dear, best of all possible thoughts to GC, GF, and family. And to Todd and family.

Keep calm, Hil, find the meds. It'll be okay.

Soothing bath~ma to Matilda, and better~ma to Trudy's tooth.

Late but enthusiastic Felicitations to meara and Jen on the Anniversary of Their Shared Natal Day! I hope there was fun, presents, and cake with candles. May the coming year bring you rewarding work, the love you deserve, and wonderful new experiences.

Animal Control, Debet, and adult cats. You can always donate or volunteer to the place you want to support, meantime, save a couple of lives.

Cats are often chameleons, in that whatever sort of personality traits they exhibited before they wound up in your home, once they're within your sphere of influence and interacting with the other animals and humans there, their personalities often shift. Unsuspected or previously unexhibited traits appear. Such as macho self-centered neutered males becoming ga-ga over a baby kitten or puppy. Or an aloof spayed female wanting to snuggle with you all the time. A change in circumstance really can be a whole new existance for a cat, far more easily than for a dog.

Not to say dogs don't undergo similar changes, just not as often, nor to the extent that cats seem to do.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

So, basically, choose at random?

Have I told you my rabbit theory? Half of all rabbits are demons. The other half are lovely creatures. However, most of the time, all rabbits are just freaked the fuck out when you pick one, so you have no way of knowing which you're getting till you've had it a week.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Trudy, I'm glad the tooth repair was painless and quick!

Debet, I'd go for adult cats in your case, too. Kittens are still babies and if you're at work during the day, they can sometimes get into mischief. Adult cats are much less apt to get into trouble while you're gone. And they have less chance of being adopted, too.

I've chosen at random--because really, the animals are in weird situations that can cause them stress and it's hard to judge their true personalities until you get them home, settled and comfortable. I agree with Bev in that cats' personalities can change.

Dogs are easier to judge in that situation, I think.

I would think that any issues that cats might have would be brought up to you by the adopting organization--why the old owners dropped them off, or anything the cat has done while incarcerated.
