lordy I just caught a giant bug in the box office. It looks like one of those Texas cockroaches. (it was wearing boots and smoking a cigar) I have trapped it in a poster tube which I labeled, "there is a giant bug (roach?) in here". I wonder if I should save it for the exterminator or throw the whole thing out in the dumpster.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

When I explained that nothing worked to a salesperson in Sephora, she got me to try "Kiss Me" masacara by Blinc, which works very differently than other mascaras.

I wonder if that would work for me. My problem is that I have oily eyelids, and the oil takes off waterproof mascara. My other problem is that I can't imagine spending $25 on mascara.

I'm terrible at makeup, Laga, but I have found that the mineral-based powder foundation stuff is pretty foolproof. I'm no good at liquid foundation.

I do OK with foundation! I just buy the lightest shade I can find. It's the blush and the mascara that scares me. And the fact that all the lipsticks I have are in some shade of shocking pink or purple. I favor the magic-color-changing fun type stuff. Right now I'm having a wee panic attack reminiscent of those times in high school when my hair stylist would show me something Really Cool! I could do at home but in the morning before school I Could Not Get It To Work The Way It Had In The Salon!

The status is NOT quo.

Laga, insent in a minute, I should have said. I'm writing mondo email with an alternative I may have found.

blueberry oatmeal scone... OK if you're trying to sneak into an R rated movie, don't ask the manager what time it starts! This kid just asked me what time does Superbad start and when I asked to see his ticket he stammerred, "oh, no, my, dad, justwantedtoknowwhattime it starts." Looks like I'll be doing ticket checks in Superbad.

Thrive to spite them

Dad's birthday was today. I bought him some plants for his butterfly garden. He sent me home with some caterpillars.

I went over and made dinner and a friend had dropped off a cake and wine so we had that for dessert. The wine was a wonderful shiraz that was too rich for dinner but perfect with the chocolate cake.

And my brother and FSIL have finally set a firm date and place for their wedding -- Jan 5, 2008. In Hawaii. So Mom's kinda upset because she can't afford a ticket to Hawaii, and if she could she can't take the time off. I'll be saving my money and hoping I can get a ticket.

But then Dad said that's right when he got his yearly bonus so I don't think either Mom or I will have to worry. We don't have to worry about a place to stay because Bro is renting some kind of villa thing. I'm assuming I'm on the guest list, they are only inviting 12-15 people to the wedding. (He and I aren't terribly close and while I assume I'll be invited maybe there's a chance I won't, who knows).

askye, they should look into group tickets. Most airlines have a thing where you can get a discount if you have a certain number of people flying to the same place on their airline.

George Bush is in your theater? ;) ...

Thank you all for your warm wishes. Still waiting to get a hold of my brother (semi-hermit) back in VA. My Uncle seems to be taking it just fine. The problem appears to be her kids (previous marriage). It sounds before there was any grief shown, the kids were talking about the house and will. :: shakes head :: So in my talk with Uncle, I let him know that we (my mom lives in San Diego way) are her for HIM (not any loot), and to call us any time, and let us know what we can do for HIM.

I think I'm amazed at how little grief is being shown. Granted, it's all over the phone, but still. Granted, she was 60+ and had a bad case of MS, and was getting harder to get around every month. So not a total surprise. But still.

OK, I've babbled enough. Again, thanks for all your well wished. I Love you guys!!

Our wings are not tired.

I'm sorry the kids are being so insensitive to your uncle. Good grief.

Ginger is me. I can't remember the last time I wore mascara. Many many years no doubt.

Makeup for me is once a year I go crazy and wear lipstick. My nails do get done regularly.
