[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Our wings are not tired.

Thanks all. It's been a tough couple months. Releasing him by signing the DNR was something his wife hated doing, but the right thing to do. Lots of great memories from many years of friendship will help us through this time. (still pissed at him for taking such poor care of his body)

Loved ones - stop smoking!

My list for the rest of the day includes painting my toe nails. That is the only thing on the list. I have gathered the essential items. It may yet happen.

Why am I watching Ring protecting Hobbits on TNT when I could pop in the DVD? Also, why is my Eureka download not done yet? These questions and many more will be answered... No, they probably won't be answered.

Art Crawl!!!

Laura, I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm sure you're watching Hobbits on tv because they're there.

Legolas and Aragorn do make things better.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Laura, I am so sorry about Bob. All kinds of ~ma to you and his family.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Laura, I am so sorry about Bob. My heart goes out to you and his family.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Oh, Laura, I'm so sorry. From everything you said, he sounds like he was such a good, dear person. ~ma to his wife and friends and everyone who's been robbed of decades of his good company.

Oof. Very, very weary. Matilda had a superfussy morning and trashed our little corner of the brunch spot (blessings be on Lee and juliana, who took on baby-wrangling duty long enough for me to eat); however, she also allowed herself to be held by everyone except P-C and K-bug (not that she wouldn't let them; they just didn't ask) and was very thoughtful and contemplative while being held.

And the entire rest of the day, she was spectacular: made cute and engaging and smiley and hugging other kids at my mom's bookstore, and just generally laughing and applauding everything and charming the hell out of everyone.

We were headed down Haight Street a couple of hours ago and came upon a father and his two daughters, about 6 and 9 years old. The youngest started bouncing with excitement and squealed, "ThebabythebabythebabyDaddyIneedtosayhitoTHEBABY! What's your baby's name?" When I told her, her eyebrows shot up and she said, "Matilda is the name of a really, really, really, really, really super most smart girl in the whole world! Does she write her name in her baby food yet?" When I allowed as how she hadn't yet, the older girl asked if she was displaying any superpowers. I said no, but that since we weren't as mean as the Wormwoods it might take longer for this Matilda, at which she nodded sagely.

And in completely other news, yay and happy anniversary to the MoonBones!

Our wings are not tired.

What a fun encounter! Brunch of course, but in particular the girls smitten with your superpowered daughter.

Sorry about the awful family stuff.

Make sure Matilda uses her powers for good, JZ!

Happy Anniversary, Jessica and Fonebone!

brillig

It's so neat to hear stories of places where babies are uncommon commodities to have fusses made over them. I was in a grocery store line tonight that had four babies in carriers in it, plus half a dozen attendant toddlers. And it wasn't the designated baby line. A cute, engaging baby/child is always a delight, but after a while you simply wade among them, being careful not to step on anybody.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I'm so sorry for your loss, Laura.

I've had an ordinary day. Shopping, library run, cleaning house because MIL is coming on Tuesday, brief cameo at a friend's party, battling self-doubt demon. (Today's edition is the "You're a sucky writer who'll never be published" demon--I grumbled a little in GWW just now.) Overall, an OK day, though.

Love the Matilda story!
