I saw Wicked today. OMG, I loved it SO MUCH and with every single fiber of my being. Perfection.
This is pretty much how S and I felt after seeing it.
Also, having seen the one here at the Pantages twice, and having listened to the OBC recording?
I think Eden Mendoza (current Elphaba in LA) is better than Idina Mendel (OBC Elphie).
Eden Espinoza--and I know this because I was so blown away by her that I looked her up in my program immediately. She was mind-blowingly good.
Eden Espinoza
YES! Thank you. Stoopid memory. She's SO GOOD.
I
love
listening to the OBC CD, and I love listening to Idina, but I really wish I could have a recording of Eden singing the part.
I still need to see Wicked.
Sean, insent.
I saw West Side Story at the Torrance Playhouse last night. Of course my nephew Freeman was the best one on stage but the actors who played Maria, Anita and Riff were pretty darn good too. Unfortunately the guy playing Tony thought it was a Gilbert & Sullivan show.
I still need to see Wicked.
Me too. I have all the songs memorized. I've seen tons of youtube clips...but I want to see it LIVE!!!
Where's Scola? And Suzi and Hec? Tom Glavine just won his 300th game! Historic! Awesome!
No clue where the other two are - but VERA COOL!!! Whatshisnose also did something yesterday, so I have been avoiding SportsCenter.
So damned tired. Mom's room is DONE and she is moved back in. All family members still live, though there was a slight dust-up yesterday that had me telling everyone to go to their corners.
Sean, insent.
Got it!
I still need to see Wicked.
Yes! And while the current run is open-ended and (AFAIK) not in immediate danger of recasting the leads or anything, you should still go soon, to make sure Eden is singing the part of Elphaba.
Me too. I have all the songs memorized. I've seen tons of youtube clips...but I want to see it LIVE!!!
You should come down here just to see it at the Pantages.
I have no ulterior motive for suggesting that. Just thought you might like to take a trip
and
see a show at the same time. You seemed like you might like that sort of thing....
I saw Emmett pitch and hit and adjust his cup.
There's much touching of the cup. It's sort of like rubbing Buddha's belly.
We won 22-0. I kept tweaking our team's parents (who are Berkeley in all but area code): "Well, another crushing victory for the upper middle class blonde white kids over the scrappy, underprivileged multiethnic kids." And they'd wince with liberal guilt.
It was fun!
We saw Glavine's win on ESPN. I don't know why they're blathering about him being the last 300 winner. They said that shit when Seaver and Carlton hit 300. Sports dude, have you not noticed the multiple pitchers who are now pitching in their forties which was not so common before?
It'll happen again.
