If you accelerate to 50 mph, you have four times the energy as if you
accelerated to 25 mph. (Fifty divided by 25 is 2, square that to get

2) You drop a heavy object from a height of 10 feet, and when it hits the ground it has a velocity of y. What would be the velocity if you drop it from 20 feet? From 40 feet?
velocity = y times the square root of (height divided by 10).
So if you dropped it from 20 feet, it would be the square root of two
times y (1.41 times y, roughly); if you dropped it from 40 feet, it

What are people doing this weekend?
My local RWA chapter is having a potluck and meeting tomorrow. Other than that, no plans at all, except for the usual of laundry and grocery shopping. And while we were away last weekend, we talked about goals for the next 5-10 years. I think I'm going to try to write down some first steps toward those goals while I'm still feeling all hopeful and inspired about everything from losing 50 lbs. to buying a house by the time DH is 40 to spending the summer of 2015 in Europe.
I hate when people say "chi-pole-tay." Just say the letters in order, people!

Saturaday: Watch US Open, go see POTC:AWE, go to football game (which hopefully will be sparsely attended).
Sunday: church (maybe),. family get together at aunt's*, more US Open
- I have to call and find out what my aunt is serving, figure out what I can bring that I can eat, and offer to bring something to share. And then either buy it or fix it.
