'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm baking coffee cake. It's from a mix, but at least it will be fresh and yummy....

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I have just cooked my third meal of the day! Three meals cooked on the stove! Crazy, especially given the fact that it just today got hot again, but still.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Aww, I love Mac's song.

Compassionately intolerant

From waaaay up thread:

Vortex, of COURSE I knew about Eastern Market opening. Living directly across the street...we've all been agog at the building of the temp structure and I've been feeling so bad for the vendors spending their days outside.

I visited after my walk this morning and the place was mobbed. So much so, I didn't even try to buy anything. I'll try again tomorrow...or just wait until Tuesday when I can actually chat with the folks.

The temp building is nice, but the promised a/c seemed only to be working in the middle of the structure. Both ends were boiling. Hope they get that fixed soon.

Still, nice to see business back to semi-normal.

As for this morning's walk. We did only 8 miles because of the crushing humidity. And, I'm thrilled to report my new shoes and socks did the trick. No problems at all with existing wounds and no new ones. Pheew!

I got a bit panicked about a pain behind my knee but a call to Georgetown Running with the symptoms assured me it wasn't the shoes. And after I hung up, I remembered that I'd done a new stretch today that must have pulled one of the ligaments at the bottom of my hamstring. Ice and aspirin later, I'm fine.

I think I'm going to have to marry Georgetown Running...not just the guys...the whole store!

I love the kid's versions.... (poor spider, but hilarious!)

It got really really really dark out just a bit ago. No rain or storming yet, but holy crap that was sudden.

Was also really gross here. I went out bra shopping and then rapidly reconsidered when I discovered most stores' a/c were struggling to keep up. Sweaty gross plus trying on bras doesn't work.

So I got some handsoap at Bathworks (5 for $15!) and went grocery shopping.

Ooooh, here comes the lightning!

OK, that was really close. Hrm. Best go back offline. And do my nails.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Mac's song is AWESOME.

I am home after many hours of carrying broken-up cement board to a dumpster and heating and scraping old vinyl tile from our future kitchen floor, all while sweating profusely. I am now fighting a wicked sinus headache and putting off changing the litterbox. On the up side, the old kitchen floor is almost all up, whihc is very exciting and I am taking our houseguest to see Bourne Ultimatum tonight.

The status is NOT quo.

Robin, sounds like the house is really coming along! I know how tedious that process can be--I wish you lots of calm~ma as you continue. I can't wait to see the place when you finish! Are you taking before/after pictures?

Loving Mac's filk.

Robin, it's got to be nice to see it come together, sweatiness and all.

Well, that was fun!

From the time I posted until about 2 minutes ago, it was incredibly loud. A strike every couple of seconds, at minimum. Some were so close my body registered the shock before my brain did (close enough you hear the sizzle before the crack, even!) Haven't had that experience in a while. Given the fire engine sirens I'm hearing grind to a close nearby, a couple somethings took a solid hit.

Of course, I was out on the balcony the whole time. Only considered coming in once or twice...

Awesome.
