Well, quite a lot of fuss. If I didn't know better, I'd think we were dangerous.

Compassionately intolerant

10 miles tomorrow, despite the torn up feet. I'm tough that way. Besides, the heat index is going to be somewhere between 105 and 110...so I'm betting my feet will be the least of my worries.

Sunday? Recovering, listening to Deathly Hallows on cd and lolling about.

I spent 4.5 hours at Georgetown Running getting fit for new shoes that will hopefully get me through the Marathon without the brutality of last week.

DC and NoVA-istas...I can't say enough about the fellows at Georgetown Running (34th and M). They rocked like rocking things, were super knowledgeable and had way more patience than I.

Now tagless for your comfort.

DH signed up for a 5K tomorrow. I'm not up to the distance just yet. It's a dog run (meaning you take your pets) but I think it will be too hot to take Sam.

I worked out and got around to installing and charging my new laptop battery after the kids were in bed.

All in all, a productive Friday night.

Yeah, be careful with those. Chicago doesn't do dog runs anymore - though they do have walks - after a hot weekend a few years ago during the "Bark in the Park" festival that ended in multiple tragedies.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Does Jeffrey Donovan set off your gaydars? My sister's has gone off big time, and I didn't see it. Then he played a part with eyeliner, and suddenly he's feyer than JRM. But with it off, I lose it again. And he's totally not a good enough actor for me to give him thespian credit.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

paperdol, that's made of win! I think I heart your JPLers.

My day today was total rollercoaster. Not a very good coaster, though, because it was really just the one up and the one down.

Started out this morning by signing the long-awaited loan documents and handing over a big wad of cash. Turns out if you do that, they'll give you an even bigger wad of cash to build a house. But then you have to give them a massive wad of cash over the next thirty years. Odd system, really.

But the upshot is, we may be able to begin the build as soon as Monday.

I was so relieved and de-stressed and happy that I had to go down to the reservation and blow out my brakes. I know this is not how you would celebrate, but evidently my ways are not your ways. We'd gone down to take one of my girls out to lunch. But we were sitting in her driveway and the brakes were soft and the light came on, and then they were just totally gone.

We babied it over to the youth center where our buddy took us to get some fluid, but that wasn't the problem. Then we babied it up the hill, ('cause due to yay racism, nobody was going to come down and give us a tow on the reservation, particularly not on a Friday afternoon) which was scary and not altogether the best call, but it worked out. The SO planned well and it was mostly uphill, so we were able to take it up and through only two lights before we got to the shop.

Our architect friend's store was just down the street so we hoofed it over there and he gave us a lift home. It's so awesome to be in a town where you can, like, have friends who can bail you out. And give your rides in their brand new Sebring convertibles.

Then I was so tired and re-stressed that I crashed out for a couple of hours while the SO labored at the studio (an accordion player's recording session, and then a kid's band's session). And we won't hear about the car until tomorrow, so it may be interesting trying to pick it up, what with lessons and all.

So my schedule this weekend was supposed to be: lessons, free guitar workshop with superawesome guitarist Greg Koch, birthday party for our kennel owner, special vocals and dance rehearsal. Then on Sunday, church, regular rehearsal. But now I dunno about pretty much all of it, other than, try to work out with the shop to pay them and pick up the van after their regular hours, and then work out a ride there. Although I guess the bus is still going on Saturdays, so maybe we can get it sorted.

Anyway, that all left me with a big headache, so I'm eating a leftover Blizzard. And in the end, we have the money budgeted for the van repairs and we can build our house, yay, so on the whole, not such a bad rollercoaster after all.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I spent the afternoon at the Gem and Jewelry show. I did end up finding a pair of earring that might work for the wedding (silver, geometric, with red stones) and a pendant that will definitely work, along with three other pairs of earrings and another pendant that I just liked a lot. I had found everything except for the wedding pendant and was about 80% of the way through the booths and nothing was grabbing me in my price range. I complained about this to a woman working a booth, and when she asked me what my price point was, she pointed to the booth next to hers and said that they had lots of stuff in my range. Sure enough, there I found four different pendants that all were just what I was looking for!

I settled on a pretty 1/2 inch square with different circles and arcs inside it, all sparkly on one side and even pretty on the back with the flat silver look. I was describing it to my sister on the phone tonight, and she suggested putting it on a satin cord, which will really make it pop.

I ended up spending a bit more than I was expecting to, but I hadn't splurged on jewelry in some time, so I was due.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

ita, he was dating Ellen Muth a while back, so no, not really.

Oh, Liese, scary non-brakey! Glad you can get it fixed, though. And yay for starting construction!

Yeah, be careful with those. Chicago doesn't do dog runs anymore - though they do have walks - after a hot weekend a few years ago during the "Bark in the Park" festival that ended in multiple tragedies.

Yeah, we've decided against taking Sam down there. He's pushing 8 years old, is a thick-coated shepherd mix and has mild hip dysplasia, anyway. He'll enjoy the morning with me and the kids in the back yard with the hose and the pool.

paperdol, I forgot to say how sweet the JPLers were!

ita, he doesnn't ping my, admittedly weak, gaydar at all. I've only seen him as Creegan in the US version of Touching Evil. I may have to see him in the eyeliner to judge properly.
