Walking I get. But power walking? Why not just run for a shorter time?

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Suuuuuuuucked to be outside

While we were there, Annabel developed cabin fever, since she's used to a nice big playground at daycare, being two blocks from a park at our house, etc. She'd beg to go outside. Sometimes I'd let her try if it was early or late enough, but most of the time she'd take a step or two out the door, frown in consternation, and announce, "I stay inside!" And since she's learning comparisons, she'll tell you that Alabama is hot but Seattle is coooollll.

The one day it rained, I chased the elder nephew outside to go get drenched. And then flouted the water restrictions and attacked him with the hose. We spent pretty much all day inside. Good thing it's a big house.

She'll get the subtext from that soon enough, too!

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Uh oh, the sun has gone away.

I think we've got it. It's been cloudy and barely cracking 70 all week, but today were supposed to be pushing 90.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Emmett had similar issues with Georgia in August. Plus he hated the bugginess down south. (San Francisco is very nearly bug free.)

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Hec, you should add that to the pimp list. That's right up there with the weather for me.

Thrive to spite them

Nearly bug free is nice. I'm always slightly amused when people realize that there really are flying roaches (er, Palmetto bugs) in the Florida and it's not an exgeration.

Although our bug issues are how I discovered the one good use for Readers Digest Condensed books --they are the perfect bug killing tools. A nice size and shape, light enough to throw, but still enough heft that they bugs squash satisfiyingly when enough force is applied. And the covers are easy to clean.
