I'm dubious about most of the ethnic food out here.

Then I'd say you are obligated to get something with french fries.

Punishingly Intricate

Meanwhile, we had one of the coldest August days ever this week.

I remember it was super cold the week of my b'day (aka next week) in 1986. Right before I left for college. I was wearing my grandfather's old jean faded and ripped up jean jacket all that week.

We sorta had a mild case of the cools this week, didn't we?

And of course tomorrow, they are already warning of a heat emergency and 100+ temps. It's barely 80 today and I haven't seen the sun in a week.

Ann, that's a ferret.

It isn't unusual to get a day or two of overcast, almost-fall-like weather in the middle of August. On the other hand, we've been experiencing it for most of the week.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I'm having this vaguely mexican thing I make with black beans, corn, tomatoes and rice. This batch isn't so great because my spices were packed. It really does need the cumin and coriander. But, it doesn't suck.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Oy. Why does faxing have to be So Damn Hard from my iBook? Especially the part where the modem wouldn't hang up and I had to warm boot the laptop?

On the other hand, I've faxed all my pages to the Unemployment lady. :: fingers crossed ::

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Suuuuuuuucked to be outside

While we were there, Annabel developed cabin fever, since she's used to a nice big playground at daycare, being two blocks from a park at our house, etc. She'd beg to go outside. Sometimes I'd let her try if it was early or late enough, but most of the time she'd take a step or two out the door, frown in consternation, and announce, "I stay inside!" And since she's learning comparisons, she'll tell you that Alabama is hot but Seattle is coooollll.

The one day it rained, I chased the elder nephew outside to go get drenched. And then flouted the water restrictions and attacked him with the hose. We spent pretty much all day inside. Good thing it's a big house.
