The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Dude! I renewed my drivers license on line this weekend, and I got got my new license in the mail today.

I didn't know CA government could be that efficient.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

but there's a big difference between employing extra hygienic measures for oneself and regarding them as a requirement for others.

This is the salient point.

And a whole other level in then telling the press that you require it!

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

It's AIFG for celebrities! At least Will and Jada seem happy about it, but it would be better to talk about it at Huggies.Org or whatev'.

Obviously, I should have been following Unshelved for a while now!

hip deep in pie

Did you use a lot of cornstarch? (My problem, with apple pies, is an allegiance to juicy apples, which inevitably means the juices overflow the crust and go running everywhere.)

I didn't use cornstarch. I used a little bit of flour and sugar, but that's it.

Now that the pie has cooled in the fridge overnight, the crust on the bottom isn't so bad. Guess what I'm having for breakfast? Yes, pie! It's no worse than a muffin I figure.

Art Crawl!!!

Well, it's been an interesting morning already. Last night - after waiting for a bus for almost an hour - I went back to my office where I, luckily, found a ride home. The Kishwaukee River was already over it's banks. And this morning, I missed the bus, met my friend Liz and we walked toward work. We got to the river and it was up well over it's banks. We could see water sloshing over the sidewalks. Luckily a geology grad student was there taking pictures of the river. He offered us a ride (he's got an suv with good clearance) which we took. He told us that the river was at 15 feet this morning. 10 feet is flood level. Local schools aren't having class today due to flooded streets.

But I'm here now - - I hope I can get home tonight.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

No flooding in Evanston that I've seen, but our internet is down. Our whole area is out. Boo!

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

No flooding around me. But a bar stool I had standing about six feet from the windows had a pool of water in the seat when I got home last night, so you can see how strong the rain was.

Naturally, I was up on the roof of the new place with the home inspector during part of this storm last night. Fun!
