Emmett's a little anxious about starting Middle School this year.
Yeah, that can be a big change depending on the district, it was for me when I was in school. Our district is nuts, there's Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, Middle School, 9th Grade, and High School so they are always changing schools.
I've been to Sequim (Skwim)! I was on a dig near there. Good times.
Office workers who go to lunch in herds? Worse than tourists.
I keep trying to go to lunch alone, but my cubemate sees me leaving and gets up to go with me, and then her two cousins who work down the hall join us, and then we're a damn herd. I just want to get my food and go back upstairs.
Mostly I object to being run off the sidewalk by the lunch herd. It's like they're afraid they'll get picked off by a coyote if they fall too far behind.
I feel like I should say Chapatoulis right now, but I can't spell it, my head is trying to secede, and my boss is back from vacation and wants a chat.
Hmm, let's see if 8 years is long enough for me to get my almost native card...
Looks like!
The funny part of that is, I managed to worm my brain with the random intentional mispronounce of Steilacoom (Steely-a-coom) some ofus used to do, and had to look up the right one.
Even though I remain the only person ever pulled over in Steilacoom for going too slow. (It was once notorious for its speed traps.)

Hec, will Emmett be around this weekend? (That is, when I'M IN SAN FRANCISCO?)
And I get to meet Matilda!!!

ugh. Tell her that you're going to run an errand, then come back with lunch. after a few times, she'll get the hint.
Thanks, Dana.
And my boss wasn't in his office, so all that remains is a mega-huge headache.
But I do have fancy cookies in that desk drawer...

I've driven through Steilacoom! (Even though I still pronounce it STEEL-a-coom.) My sister warned me about the speed traps. Pretty town.
