I loathe my 60 minute commute that is mostly on train. It's too long, losing 2 hours each day sucks. And it is too crowded for too long. Into work I maybe get a seat for half of it. Going home I usually start with a seat, but after a train switch I usually am standing for the last 20-30 minutes.

I would be asleep, probably. In London I got really good at partial sleeping. Never missed a bus or a tube stop.

I've discovered that waking up with a migraine is not advisable when there will be workers hammering on your back wall all day long.

Friday night I messed up my shoes looking for exactly the right pair of black high-heeled sandals to go with my outfit. Extra frustrating since I have the perfect pair, but the heel's been broken...well, since LA prom. So I am lame. It's sad to see I have at least 6 pairs of the high-heeled black sandal variety. Sadder yet because they're all over my floor. I'm not sure when I became that girl.

My ex used to mess with me by putting my shoes in the closet every so often. I always just assumed shoes lived by the door. At least the pairs in heavy rotation. I would walk around looking like a lost puppy and eventually he'd stop laughing and point me towards the closet.

I don't actually mind my 45-60 minute commute most days.

And my shoes are all over the floor of my bedroom, except for the ones I should really get rid of, which are in the closet.

There's a big difference between a commute on public transportation and a commute in a car ("idiot, get out of my way, why are you doing TWENTY on the FREEWAY, get off your phone, no, really, it's fine, I don't mind slamming on my brakes so you don't kill me, oh, good, now it's raining.").

Yeah, absolutely. A car commute would kill me. At least everyone's standing still for much of the train ride.

Ideally my commute would be 30 minutes and I could leave early enough to get a seat each way. I actually did not liking walking to work for the year and a half that I did it. No reading and I had to be too engaged what with the watching where I was going and stuff.

Yeah, yeah. Maybe I can continue the building give-away we've had going on for the past week or so. Someone must be clearing out their apartment, because one day it was a pile of books, one day it was video tapes, another day dishes, etc.

Provided we don't have problems (like drawbridges getting stuck in the upright position), the commuter train from Salem to Boston is faster than driving even if there wasn't rush hour to deal with. Rush hour on Route 128? You couldn't PAY me enough to make that drive every day.
