I doubt you'd meet many librarians who don't.
And do you move all of the books to the front of the shelf and not pushed into the back?
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Uh...
Actually, I have no systems for anything. Books, DVDs, CDs, paper, electronic files. Okay, books are by size...on some shelves. Are they going to take away my MLIS?
Are they going to take away my MLIS?
Probably.

At home, no, but at work, yes.
I keep the books pushed to the back, so more stuff fits on the shelves. Currently, that's more books. But the fiction on the shelves is alphabetized! I only have a couple of shelves of nonfiction, and they are grouped in a combination of size and subject matter and random whim.

That's why I don't do it at home-- I have to double shelve some of my fiction books.
I decided it was cocktail hour, so I am out on the balcony with a gimlet that I wish was vodka instead of gin (I'm out of vodka) and my laptop.
Life is hard.
I was gonna have TJs Pad Thai noodles and sauce with veggies for dinner, but there was MOLD on teh noodles. INSIDE the plastic. I've got an email off to TJs (they have no 800# on the packaging to call). YUCK!
It wasn't the same over spaghetti.
ewww. msbelle. That sucks.
Once upon a time, I had a system. Largely around topic/interest, with a heavy hand on geography (cause I have a lot of nonfiction and essays on politics and war.) All the science bios need to go together!
But then it became just a matter of finding A shelf space, and that sort of fell by the wayside. Next time I have to reshelve my books, I'll go back to the topic system.
I keep thinking that I'll organize the books sometime, but I probably won't. They're crammed on shelves in no order whatsoever; their location is only dictated by where they'll fit on the shelves. I like the happy chaos of my bookshelves.
