"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

Did you hear about the Chihuahua that saved the baby from the snake bite? I had heard the story, but hadn't seen the details. I was hearing bits and pieces from my dad, but he kept choking up around the details so I finally just looked it up. I have a chihuahua. She didn't alert me when there was smoke in the house. I picture her more like Brain, from Pinky and the Brain. She looks for opportunities that may get rid of the humans in her house.

I actually watched the people dump our cat that we had for several years. They slowed down their car, tossed it into a yard, and then sped off. I was so shocked by what I was seeing that to this day I can't remember what kind of car it was. I told my ex to look out the window, we just got a cat.

Our wings are not tired.

My dad was on road construction projects for years and witnessed many animals being dumped. Apparently people figured the workers would take home the animals. We got more than one puppy that way.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

That's just mind-boggling. I will never understand why people behave the way they do.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I told my ex to look out the window, we just got a cat.

Wow.

There was a sad story in the NY Times a few weeks ago about how in rural areas, a lot of animals get abandoned because their owners can't afford to feed them, much less pay their vet bills, and some people take them on anyway, and nearly go broke as a result. It was really sad, and something of an eye-opener. I realize that pets are a luxury of Western societies in many ways, but I guess I'd forgotten that they're a luxury even in Western societies.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Okay, maybe by Buffista standards I *am* a prude. That still makes me adventurous among hooples, though. Oh, I think I get it, Hec, it's like the flip-side of the sponge-bath question I used to get all the time.(isolation does occasionally have its benefits, in that I don't now, but I'm here posting this on Saturday night, so, it's probably a wash.) Things like that can be hard for me to talk about, and I stil think nurses should be able to talk about movies or dogs without confronting it, though.

Nobody should be committing cyber frottage on Bobbi or Jen because they're nurses.

And certainly nursing and caretaking have a whole different set of associations for you. Plus, I expect it takes more of a leap on your part to imagine somebody else being in control as a sexual plus, instead of a dreary everyday.

Buffy Books Not Finished? HERE buffysmglover | 23-Jun-07 at 10:15 pm | Permalink glad you liked the video! sorry it took me a month to get back here. I need to ask about the books. Why did S&S stop with the one in January 2008? Alice Henderson said in my site’s chat last night that S&S had received tons of ideas for the books, including some from Alice. Did you have anymore planned? Nancy Holder | 11-Aug-07 at 10:18 pm | Permalink I’m sorry I’m so long in responding. Yes, I had many more ideas. My most recent idea consisted of sending everyone back in time, with alternating storylines. I saw Alice at Comic-Con and she had told me that there MIGHT be more books after all, so I’d better keep my idea under wraps for now. Suffice to say I would give my life’s blood to write it!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I just don't get people who don't feel that dogs, cats, and other companion animals are part of the family.

It's a culture thing. I like dogs. I might even love them. I can't imagine keeping one inside a house. It's not how I was raised, and if we're making a list of issues I've had since childhood that need fixing, it's pretty low on the list.

Our dogs were guard dogs primarily, but fun to play with. That whole cuddling thing still is beyond me, much less having them in my bed. I was just listening to a friend today talk about showering with his dog, and I just am not going to get it.

Which is okay.

The status is NOT quo.

Things not to do when you're already feeling blue: a budget.

Feh. What was I thinking? Why did proving that I can't afford my own damn bills seem like a good idea on a Saturday night?

I is stoopid sometimes.
