K-Bug's bf and his family headed East on Wednesday for a family wedding. I found out last night that they actually went to DC to do the tourist thing before going wherever the wedding is for the weekend.

Apparently they were complaining about driving around DC. Hah - park and take the Metro, my brain said. I felt like I had a clue.

Then it made me think about my trip to DC, which in turn made me miss all the DC'istas I got to spend time with.

So the story didn't come from a legit news source? Yeah that's a pretty big red flag.

Work is so stupid. We have three junior people in our department. All at the same time, two are in trouble for talking too much during the day (they're friends outside work), and the higher-ups are concerned that the third one isn't "fitting in." Well, yeah, it looks that way because she doesn't sit around chatting all day. Christ. Also, she hates people in general, so she's not super chatty or whatever.

I'm sitting in a coffee shop in Lexington. A woman just walked in the front door with a tray full of flowers to replace the ones on the tables. I kind of like this town.

Hatred, the key to productivity. There should be a motivational poster.

We have an ongoing problem with keeping admins at our company. Basically, the admins have a half clerical/half customer service job. They have to learn how to use several databases, they have to keep things organized and make sure that information gets disseminated to the correct people, and they also have to deal directly with clients. I'm sure its not an EASY job, but it's not rocket science, either. However, there have been four different people so far this year, all of whom have either bailed or have been fired for one reason or another. To my extreme annoyance, they fired the most recent one last week, despite the fact that the one other person that does the same work regularly is out for an undefined period of time because her mother died. So now, no admins. We have one guy doing admin type stuff part time, but that's it. Needless to say, when you have no admins, nothing gets done properly, and everyone else is way more stressed.

Would it have killed them to wait until P got back from her bereavement time? I mean the guy they fired last week wasn't stealing office supplies or showing up to work naked or anything, they just felt he wasn't catching on quickly enough.
