I was dusting my shelves over the weekend, and came across a tape of the film Hiroshima that was broadcast on Showtime some 12 years ago. I think I'll watch that tonight to mark the date.
It's a really good dramatization of all the political and military stuff that happened on both the American and Japanese sides from the time of FDR's death to the surrender of Japan. Kenneth Walsh is an extremely believable Harry Truman, and the actor who plays General Anami is amazingly intense.
I don't know what to get for lunch!
I just got a delicious roast beef sandwich.
I had delicious homemade lasagna. It was a weird lasagna, because I didn't have riocotta, so I used tofu. I didn't have sauce, so I made sauce (with sausage, because I only make good meat sauce. I didn't have spinach, so I used beet greens. And then I didn't have enough tofu, so my second layer was actually zucchini. Yet, still good.
Happy birthday, Robin!!!!
Shoes stretch when you wear them, right?
I have a pair of shoes that I was going to take to a shoe repair place to see if they could stretch them for me. I love them, but they are just too narrow. I tried wearing them a couple of times, but they didn't stretch enough, so I'm going to try a professional.
Architechts for Humanity -- how cool!
I wish that there were more pictures of the houses.
Thank you for the lovely nirthday wishes! Yup--my birthday is Hiroshima day...also Lucille Ball's birthday. Make of that what you will.
The kids and I met DH for lunch at a Mexican restaurant. I had chicken chimichangas and the kids had beans, rice and a cheese quesadilla. So very tasty.
Maybe I'll go get tacos from the place that makes the really yummy and muy autentico tacos. It's kind of a hike, though, and I am very lazy. Plus it's hot & humid as balls out there.
