Dog is my co-pilot.

Okay, I swear. I'll stop obsessing now.

It's ok. My BIL's first book came out a couple of weeks ago and he's been obsessing over his Amazon ranking. I met his co-author last night and one of the first things Doug mentioned was the latest Amazon ranking. Geez. Authors.

In an effort to find out how astronomically low the rankings can get, I checked a book that I contributed to that was published in 1997. Hey, I'm number 4,069,079!!

I was telling a friend of mine about WtVPPLtL today and she wants to read it. She knows nothing of Joss Whedon except that I liked his shows, but she's a sociologist and finds the overall theme of finding online community fascinating. Reading the book really brought back memories of my early Internet experiences. I've been essentially cyberhomeless since AOL shut down my place a decade ago. But I keep looking.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

This photo scavenger hunt is kinda kicking my ass.

Don't let it do that! Beat it into submission! Murderize it with your pinky.

Or drop it, if you aren't having fun.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Or drop it, if you aren't having fun.

I can't. I mean, I have the tiebreaker all done, but that doesn't count unless I tie with someone for, like, the win.

My not-boss just told me I could go home. I don't think it counts, but it feels good.

I hope they don't expect me to do this much work every day.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I've photographed one thing for the scavenger hunt. Because it was lying right there. But I knew I wouldn't have time during the week, anyway. The rest I'm gonna try to get tomorrow. I've nothing else vying for my time this weekend.

I hate you all, and will now spork out my eardrums in an attempt to drown out the competing earworms.

Go here if you want to drive both out of your head immediately.

(And eat some cookies afterwards.)

I need to take my tiebreaker picture. I'm not really playing, but I thought I'd take that one.

In my house, closet = abyss. I'm trying to spend my summer off from grad school and teaching doing productive things like cleaning closets and drawers and rearranging and thinning bookshelves. It's moving slowly, though, and school resumes in only 3 weeks.

Where did the summer go?
