My only tiny quibble with JP is the ... nose quiver, I guess you'd call it? ... when he's being fierce and restraining himself, or draining/exorcising the demon. But otherwise, he's dead on.

(eyebrow waggle) Need some help with that, there, Jen?
I know, the nose quiver can be a bit distracting. But how you gonna train your nose to be all stoic and manly and non-moving?
That shot of Sam looking into the darkness of the night while we see his reflection was so powerful. Dean said he wasn't alone, and then we get that shot and he looks--so alone.

Nose splints.
What?
SHOW! ::wibble::
Or... Nose Botox!

Hee. See, you know they're bringing the pain when I feel so heartbroken for them that I seriously only want to feed 'em and give them some much needed and well-deserved rest.
Okay, I have never been truly impressed with Sam/Jared as I was tonight. This was just a WOW episode for him. Totally blown away by his performance tonight like never before.

This bothered me too, but that is what made me think of how far they have come. JA is still at a higher level and even seems to be improving. But Jared is doing such good work. Really really good work.
I'm feeling some heavy, heavy parallels between now and S2. Like, Sam's bit after they stop the car reminded me of the bit by the water, with the fence and the beers, where they talk about how he might go darkside.
I don't know what else I feel about it yet, just had to observe.
