Really? What, were they just supposed to exchange meaningful looks?
Supernatural 1: Saving People, Hunting Things - the Family Business
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
What, were they just supposed to exchange meaningful looks?
Yah, apparently. Meaningful dialog, you know. It's one of those instances like at the end of BUABS, when recently-exorcised Sam asks, "Did I miss anything?" after torturing Dean and Dean hauls off and slugs him. The actors asked for one take and came up with that. From what I heard, and I can't verify because it would have taken me into dread spoilery-land, Jared just came off the bed and Jensen stood his ground and the take happened.
Even if it isn't true it makes a damn nice story.
But...then they did a lot of coverage on the hug with multiple angles. It took up many seconds of screentime. It wasn't some joking aside or a small gesture. It certainly seems like it was in the script to me.
Go with it P-C. Believe the magic. You know you want to.
It makes me love them even more. I really have to plateau on my love level at some point.
It also may not have been written in the script, and then they tried it in rehearsals, and Kim Manners liked it so much he decided to put it in. Still actor's choice, really.
Where'd you hear that, Bev? I can totally buy it, because of how well they work together, and I *want* to believe it because it makes them even more adorable, as well as really committed to their roles.
Well, who's to say the first shot of the hug was unscripted and once they realized how well it worked they went in for a couple more angle shots?
I read it on one of the LJ comms. A lot of the posters are uber spoilers ho's and read all the releases and sides (the actual script pages, subject to change*). One of them posted that the hug was not in the sides. I assumed that either in rehearsal or in an early take Jared just went with the emotion of the scene and Jensen (hey, did you know Jensen is just one letter off from Hensen, which I just typed three times, and...no. Just, no) went with Jared. Yeah, big assumption. But it's not without precedent, as that's exactly what happened in BUaBS.
*apparently the sides, or script pages, are made available to either websites or fansites by the production company after filming, but before the episode is aired. The sides, as I understand it, are the script as written, but before on-set changes to stunt gags, awkward lines, bits of business that don't work on camera, locations that are cancelled at the last minute, or other things that are added or deleted during filiming.
gasp! There's a Wolfram sighting in SPN! Hi there, and welcome.
Heh, I'm actually here a lot, but in full-on lurk mode. Except when I have really important things to contribute, like helping darlini solve her semantical crisis.
Also, SPN - really, really good show. And I skipped watching the whole first season because I was afraid it was just going to be Charmed with boys. (Had to catch up over the summer before season 2.) The writing is okay, but what really shines in this show is its Moments.
I was afraid it was just going to be Charmed with boys
If that were the case, they'd have their shirts off a lot more. I swear, we get skin shots like once per season.
And you're right, the moments stand out all the more because they are so rarely lingered upon... usually the screen cuts to black because the show is going to commercial, ending, or something is coming through the window to attack. But I do love the brotherly bonding moments. "You're my brother and I'd die for you." and he means it. Actually they mean it, because the sentiment applies to both of them.
