It's also pretty evident that Sam was better-written, stronger on the page, because JP is already in character. Dean's not as well-defined. I think the writers and JA had to *find* Dean, and settle into his character.
Yeah, I think it was written as the Sam Show and it turned out to need to be the SamnDean Show.
I think they are damned smart and lucky in their casting though. It's really what they bring to the screen that grabs me.
How did Dean get his jacket clean? Always bugs me.
That jacket wears him well.
He doesn't even try to run--just informs Sam.
Okay, everybody knows what five-o means, right?
And I LOVE this sheriff.
my boobs --and the smile! Oh Dean!
If you let the mud dry, you can just smack the jacket against a wall a few times and most of it will fall off. Sponge the rest.
What?
Older guy? Watch who you are calling older Sheriff!
Look, look! Sam shoulders--not slouching. He bulks up later, but the coat-hanger shoulders are there.
The mushroom haircut sucks, though.
Jared really has grown up nicely.
Sam's hair was SO GOOD in the pilot. For real.
Yeah, I'm shallow.
I think they really needed to establish not only that it was the SamandDean show, but their own backstory -- Sam slips back into hunting so easily, and Dean seems less experienced than he should. The whole "Dude, I'm 26" thing always bothers me, because honestly Dean would have been working (should have been working?) cases on his own by the time he was 21 or 22, when Sam was still around.
