It's also pretty evident that Sam was better-written, stronger on the page, because JP is already in character. Dean's not as well-defined. I think the writers and JA had to *find* Dean, and settle into his character.
And now I have a really strong desire to watch Salvation, just for the mirroring wall-slam, "Don't talk about her like that."
After getting to know her for two and a half years now, the Impala would never allowed Constance to use her to attack her boys.
If it weren't for pictures, I wouldn't even know what Mom looked like.
Then in comes Dean to defend Mary. LOVE
Dean's pretty everywhere
Truer words...
I love Sam too but in the first ep, I only really like him because Dean likes him. His slip from Standford Sam to Hunting Sam (like on the bridge, he's flipping back and forth for me) is fantastic to watch (though confusing when eps went out of order).
And the car keys dangling. I like when the show gives us subtle.
Oh, that's another favorite. "That Constance chick, what a BITCH!" And poor JA all covered in mud.
And the first of the many crappy hotel rooms.
This is a relevatory scene that set up SO MUCH about their childhood, the atmosphere they were encultured with.
Haha. Dean's response is just to throw up his arms.
Ah, they made up. "jerk. bitch."

Yeah, I think it was written as the Sam Show and it turned out to need to be the SamnDean Show.
I think they are damned smart and lucky in their casting though. It's really what they bring to the screen that grabs me.
How did Dean get his jacket clean? Always bugs me.
That jacket wears him well.
