Oh, I adore Dean in the pilot. He's just .... well he's pulling little bits of Alec at times but he's just making this sexy, competent and hella sarcastic Dean guy come to life. And I adore the SamnDean interactions.
(I had to reboot, but I was
thinking
about posting the whole time.)
One of my favorite little throwaways is there in the library, with the brotherly wrangling over the computer. It's so SamandDean.
Oh the sentence works in so many way tiggy.
I love that it's Sam jimmying the lock there, and that he's doing it without comment.
That is a great scene right there, Dean's "don't talk about her" and the fundamental difference between how Mary is just pictures and stories to Sam but something so real and precious to Dean.
It's also pretty evident that Sam was better-written, stronger on the page, because JP is already in character. Dean's not as well-defined. I think the writers and JA had to *find* Dean, and settle into his character.
And now I have a really strong desire to watch Salvation, just for the mirroring wall-slam, "Don't talk about her like that."
After getting to know her for two and a half years now, the Impala would never allowed Constance to use her to attack her boys.
If it weren't for pictures, I wouldn't even know what Mom looked like.
Then in comes Dean to defend Mary. LOVE
Dean's pretty everywhere
Truer words...
I love Sam too but in the first ep, I only really like him because Dean likes him. His slip from Standford Sam to Hunting Sam (like on the bridge, he's flipping back and forth for me) is fantastic to watch (though confusing when eps went out of order).
And the car keys dangling. I like when the show gives us subtle.
Oh, that's another favorite. "That Constance chick, what a BITCH!" And poor JA all covered in mud.
