There is a third reason too. He has definitely taken action to try and break the deal, and not turned into a rotting corpse.
She only specifically said that Dean couldn't try to break the deal. Or "welch" on it which bugs cause it should be Welsh. Sam can, theoretically, do what he wants. As I read it.
I wonder if I would have noticed or cared if I hadn't known the RL stuff though.
I didn't know who she was until someone pointed it out here and the casting bothered me. she wasn't believable at all to me as a CD. even though i didn't love the previous CD as much as most everyone here, she was still badass and snarky. Sandy? NSM.

Right. But Dean was claiming otherwise. Sam would not have tried if he believed Dean. But now he knows for sure.
Cause we all know Dean's a little lying liar who lies.
Though it could be argued that encouraging Sam might be considered trying to break the deal. So Dean's gotta tell him no. Sam just doesn't have to listen to him.
I've always dug the Crossroads Demons, so it's kinda sad I didn't love this one too.
You know, Sam got all cold and squinty-eyed and I KNEW there'd be flailing and the global warming problem would suddenly get worse.
