I thought that Sam was figuring that 1. he'd said that if the demon didn't give him what he wanted he'd shoot her and in that situation you do what you say and 2. she could have been lying and 3. as my friend S. suggested - killing that Red Eyes is bound to piss off her boss who will come looking for Sammy.
I loved the rest of the episode and wish that they hadn't just tacked the cross-roads stuff at the end like an epilogue.

That was ... 100% pure Sammy? I am thinking he's gonna start sleeping with Spike any ep now.
I feel like a curmudgeon for saying it, but I really wish they hadn't used Sandy. She is adorable, and the CD should be kick ass instead.

Yeah Sam is definitely getting ruthless, killing the innocent possessed person. But he had the two reasons people have already given: she could have been lying; maybe he can lure her boss to come after him.
There is a third reason too. He has definitely taken action to try and break the deal, and not turned into a rotting corpse. So he has just won an argument with Dean. What, you don't think that is a major motivation?
