I agree that it works for him, but that style is SO not Dean. The scruff, Dean could do, but the hair's all wrong. That look is all Jensen, not Dean.
I'm willing to handwave Dean looking through some waiting room GQs and deciding that a better haircut will help him achieve maximum hook-up potential during his last year on earth if it means JA looking like that on my screen every week.

which could explain my extreme attraction to Dean and how Jensen is just too pretty for me. almost why i was hesitant to do that "celebrities i'd totally do" meme on lj. i tend to be way more attracted to the characters than the people playing them.

They gave Dean near-perfect hair in the pilot. Just *that* much longer, a little scruffier. It was too short in S2, really over-the-top butch, kind of. I like it a bit longer. And honestly, when does Dean have time to cut his hair that often anyway? Plus, Dean is VAIN. He would totally go for the best hair possible.

JA's tendency to have scruff and/or stubble (and sometimes almost a beard) off-set is what does it for me. Love that look on him. He really is inhumanly pretty.
