Sam suddenly being drunk just weirded me out and I thought he was possessed then, which I think also added to my confusion of just when he got possessed. Cuz, random, and within that ep, as far as I can remember, no lead-up to it at all. And perhaps some discussion here that I didn't comprehend at the time.

[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
Linky to the HOTH fic please.
If you mean mine? It's here.
(I still feel weird linking to fic in here, but no one seems to mind, so...)
I saw despair in Playthings. It's after Ava is missing (and not yet known to be evil), when Sam goes off, gets drunk and makes Dean promise to kill him. That, to me, is despair. He moves past it. But that's where I see it. I think he did lose hope. He just keeps finding a little bit more.
This is very true. I'm not paying attention to how closely he's tamped it down, I think.
Thanks Ailleann! I won't tell anyone.
Juliebird, are you talking about Sam being drunk in BUaBS? Or in Playthings?
Sam suddenly being drunk just weirded me out and I thought he was possessed then, which I think also added to my confusion of just when he got possessed. If you saw the Director's Cuts on the CW website ever? Blame them. I still do. Because they showed Sam in a chair with the black eyes. Wasn't as far back as Playthings but it was up (and actually from BUaBS) when HotH aired.
Confused me, spoiled the hell out of me and obviously I am still a little grudgey about it.
Yay link!
Ailleann, I loved that fic. There's another that is poking at my brain that I will try to go find now.
This is very true. I'm not paying attention to how closely he's tamped it down, I think. It's also conclusions I have made after playing fast and loose with my own fanon by this point in the conversation. What I see is more than maybe has been explicitly shown onscreen.

I'm shocked. You NEVER do that.

Wow, Ailleann.
I got goose-bumps and then I swear, as I was reading about Pastor Jim's eyes stinging, my eyes started. But thanks for the smile at the very end after I cried. That was perfect.
You totally captured a young Sammy.
