So where do we go from here? Now that we have all this information, what are we doing with it?
Personally I feel more open to single show threads. I do think we should change the quorum for votes - probably based on a percentage of active users or registered users or something like that.
I'd also argue for a cultural shift to drop No Preference options on thread creation votes. The idea being, "Let's go ahead and make new threads but it has to have enough votes to pass and the people that vote Yes should intend to use it."
Anyway, I took a peek at the Supernatural thread and it is
flying
along. Which I think is a good thing. I think the fandom element is still very strong glue for this community even if we don't have just one fandom to focus on anymore. It's as strong a bond as the social ones.
The debate about mattering is semantic. Have no impact, cannot really be considered, but I'm guessing no one here is judging lurkers as people-just separating participants from non-.
Serial: Supernatural is flying, but Boxed Set is quieter, it feels. Not so happy with that.

True dat. Especially since the poll showed that Boxed Set is Thread #3.
But I think the nature of Boxed Set is such that another show will catch fire and re-energize it. The flipside is I don't think Boxed Set could handle the volume of both Heroes and Supernatural starting new seasons.
This fall season looks like it has the potential of one or two shows that might liven up Boxed Set. Plus Torchwood coming to BBCA will probably add as well.
I mean, it's pretty much just Eureka and Dr. Who at this point for anything "new" that's airing (quotes due to Dr. Who being on it's second round of newness).
I'd also argue for a cultural shift to drop No Preference options on thread creation votes.
And I'll point out again that the inclusion of NP has never yet made a difference as to whether a thread was created.
I guess my point is that if you want to make it harder to create new threads, then removing NP as an option ain't the way to do it.
FTR, I've never been offered either.
Hey, I wiggled my butt at you at the Prom!
I don't like tacos.
Well, guess what
you
get, then!

Agree with this. There's a new season of new shows with fantasy/SF themes starting soon. Or, what Frank said.

Would raising the quorum do it?
I think the Fall will help Boxed Set's momentum (although we're talking about new eps of Eureka to a decent extent.). There are just so many shows (like SG, DW, and Torchwood) that a substantial portion of the population has already seen before they air in the US, that they can't seem to get traction in discussion.
That and the consensus seems to be that FG is not, well, FG.
