And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I would prefer to keep the board a words-only forum. It's one of the things I love about us, and it means I can read the board at work.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Threads visible to members only

We voted on this once, and it lost in a landslide.

I remember because it was my proposal, and it was the first thing we ever voted down. I like to think I'm smart enough to not reload and shoot myself in the foot again.

Our wings are not tired.

Wow, I have no memory whatsoever on that one. I wonder how I voted. (probably can look it up) It sounds like a good idea to me because some people feel too exposed talking from time to time. I'll have to review the arguments. eta: 2003, no wonder I can't remember!

brillig

I'm against reactions, too, and I'm not sure about avatars. I like the non-graphical look of the board. I don't think I like the idea of non-public threads, because how many people who come to the board aren't signed up?

Our wings are not tired.

I reviewed the arguments on the non-public. First, reviewing old vote discussion is super painful. Second, the argument against revolved around a false sense of privacy and was fairly compelling.

Coding and Sleeping

That sounds like a pretty good argument. Anybody can register so there really isn't any privacy.

Sounds like reactions are a non-starter and I'm totally cool with that. I think I won't worry about avatars. It's something that can be added later if we ever want it (with the ability to turn off avatar display in settings).

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

This is pretty dang awesome. Gud, what are our test cases?

Our wings are not tired.

I'm curious about how many new users the board is getting these days?

Laura - Dec 10, 2017 3:26:16 am PST #6203 of 6786
Our wings are not tired.

Nanita, the function to add new users hasn't worked for quite a long time. Someone would have to look at the table to see when the last one was added.

Gud, is there anything in particular you want us to test?
