It makes me sad that every year we name after how much it sucks.

I think this sentiment has been expressed in previous G&GR thread naming conversations, but not all of us have had terrible, horrible, no good, very bad years. I don't have any ideas just at the moment, but I'd prefer something a little less "flipping the bird"

I concur. And I do understand the sentiment for many people who had fantastically shitty years and have no fond memories of 2013. But for me and my family it was a good year.
"2013--This is the year that was."
And everyone can finish the thought in their own way.

2014, BTDT. Next...
Oh Connie, I like that a lot. And if it wasn't clear, that's what I meant earlier. It was a pretty good year for us, too, though I completely sympathize with the fact that many had a really difficult one.
Or, for the Tom Lehrer fans out there:
2013: That Was the Year That Was
2013: That Was the Year That Was
That's good.
2013: That Was the Year That Was
I've had Lehrer on the brain recently because every time some NYT columnist decides its their turn to try doing their child's math homework so they can bitch about Common Core for 800 words, I'm earwormed with "New Math."
So I vote for this.
