Fred: It's the pictures in my mind that are getting me. It's like being stuck in a really bad movie with those Clockwork Orange clampy things on my eyeballs. Wesley: Why imagine? Reality's disturbing enough.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Which is -- not spoilers?

The details I had would be spoilers if I'd gotten to watch tonight's episode of whatever before it was aired and you saw it--what's different about the book?

And where has the HP discussion started?

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Several personal LJs; fandom_lounge has a designated discussion post. It's avoidable, for now, but I vaguely figured that if the New York Times is writing about leaked text, then the horses were in the process of leaving the barn.

And, were the Atlantic Canadians called spoily, seeing Angel episodes a day before hoi polloi? I thought they were just called "frighteningly clairvoyant" or possibly "awesomely gifted" and given their own discussion space.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I guess, most of the people I've seen who know "spoilers" have actually read excerpts from the book. Which is -- not spoilers? I mean, they just read the book early. (Most of them, apparently, via meticulously photographed and posted pages.)

I...what? How is that not spoilers? The book is not out yet. Things that happen in it are, in fact, spoilers to most people.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

And where has the HP discussion started?

Outside of the board, on livejournal like whoa.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

There's a link on the LJ portal to a spoiler discussion community.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

And, were the Atlantic Canadians called spoily

I think we're getting bogged down in semantics. Let's call them shmoilers. Whatever you want to call them, they are something that people coming into the bookclub thread might not want to see. I didn't realize that shmoilers would be discussed in this consensed thread, and apparently others didn't either. So, like ita said, we better make damn sure that's clear.

Thinking some more, why not use the spoilers thread until Friday night, and then open up the Bookclub then?

Well, I don't know whether TV spoilerwhores and HP spoilerwhores completely overlap (or are inclusive of one another). Where's the Venn diagram?

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I think people should also be aware that spoilers from the end of the book may be under discussion in the thread from point of opening (even it doesn't open until Friday) as they may be coming in to do some sort of read and post and get a nasty surprise.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

I don't mind having HP7 spoilers in the spoiler thread, but I don't think spoilers should be put anywhere people might already be subscribed to without a vote.

OTOH, there's a good chance this conversation will last past midnight Friday at which it will be a moot point anyway, right?
