I don't get the connection, so if that's the case, I'd suggest a Press post or something to announce it.
That said, after a quick glance at the results of this informal poll, that show comes up as one of the strongest in terms of interest and spoiler-aversity, so Minearverse might be a good place for it just on that basis.
(Nearly 50 poll takers already, whoa. I'll post results in a few days, once non-weekenders have a chance to speak up. Unless people can see results for themselves a la Mr. Poll? I don't know - this is my first Monkey.)
Okay, if we discuss Pushing Daisies in Minearverse, I suspect we'll be discussing it in many different places, if for no other reason than that I would like to discuss PD, but I don't go into Minearverse. I'm sure it's a perfectly fine thread, and very much do not mean to disparage the culture in there, but every time I've poked my head in, it has very much seemed like Not My Thread.
Actually, why don't we run a poll with ALL primetime shows from the big 5 plus Lifetime, Scifi and whoever else runs primetime originally written dramas and see which shows people are
most
spoiler adverse about and think about getting individual threads for those shows and then having a couple of buckets for the others.
I don't think Minearverse will be the only place that PD will be discussed. I also think there could possibly be some K-Ville discussion in that thread (assuming there is any K-Ville discussion) given that Craig Silverstein is EP and Tim has been consulting on the show.
K-ville is a cop show about New Orleans post-Katrina, isn't it?

Was that during a soaps discussion? Because Minearverse has a tendency to get weird when there's no show to discuss. When there's a show, it's pretty much on topic.

This is a great idea. However, I suspect that the wall we're going to come up against with the sci-fi/fantasy shows is similar to the one that caused so much strife during the SPN debate.
Boxed Set is a very important thread to many people on this board; it came in third overall. It obviously has a thriving culture and people who adore it. On the other hand, many people who watch the sci-fi/fantasy shows in it are unable to participate in it because they are spoiler-adverse. Doing a poll to see which shows we plan to follow and want to talk about this fall is a great idea, but (for example) I suspect that BSG and Stargate and Eureka would be a few of the shows that pop up--and a few of the shows that Boxed Set folks would be loathe to give up since it would essentially decimate that thread. (If I'm wrong in this assumption, Boxed Set folks, please speak up! I don't mean to put words in your mouth or cause unecessary conflict here.)
Thus (if I'm correct) we reach the impasse: put these few shows in single threads and damage Boxed Set (therefore upsetting many Buffistas who love their thread), or leave these shows in the increasingly big bucket that is Boxed Set (therefore alienating those Buffistas who can't keep up with all the shows but are spoiler-adverse). Either way, people are justifiably upset and our community is bruised.
So I want to ask a question that's come up a couple of times before in our long debate but never really resolved itself. Is there a way to leave Boxed Set as is--a kind of meta-fiction thread where all genre shows are welcome--and still create single-threads for those few (and I emphasize FEW) shows that garner the most interest in the pull sumi suggests?
Yes, I know that that would break our tradition of only having one place where specific shows are discussed, and yes, it is likely that the Boxed Set folks might feel that it would be too cumbersome to chat about shows in more than one place (and that those of us who don't post in Boxed Set might not be big enough in numbers to justify a thread without those folks). I recognize those as very valid concerns. But the more I've thought about this and seen feelings hurt and frustrations abound, the more I've wondered if those drawbacks might be preferable to the huge strife that this impasse has created. It might be a way to expand our community discussions without hurting the community we already have.
So. All that blabbering comes down to a question for sumi: if you create that poll, would you mind adding a question that would determine how many of the poll respondants who plan to watch sci-fi/fantasy shows plan to discuss them in Boxed Set? If nothing else, it would give us more information. If most people who plan to follow genre shows already do so in Boxed Set, then the community as a whole is already being served and I'm happy to drop it completely.
This post is brought to you by the paranthesis and the phrase "I may regret asking this, but...."
ETA: Fwiw, I'd love to discuss PD in Minearverse.
I like Kristin's idea muchly. It would probably mean that I don't go into Boxed Set anymore but I didn't feel like I was contributing anything valid to Boxed Set as it is.
Alternatively, even if we leave Boxed Set as is but just don't automatically put every *new* sci-fi/fantasy show into it exclusively, that too would help.
