If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Maybe it would be worthwhile, in advance of any proposals hitting the table, for people who are interested to throw out some of their conceptions for what specific smaller or genre buckets they would like to see.

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

Maybe a multi part vote for several genres broken up in smaller buckets

I think that we've proposed this before. It never went to a vote, I think that is was "voted down" in discussion.

No, I think it went to a vote and got actually voted down two years ago: Lee "Sunnydale Press" Sep 2, 2005 8:00:42 pm PDT

Or perhaps you're thinking of a different attempt.

Those aren't differentiated by genre, though. I don't remember seeing that ever get to a ballot before.

Oh, so close. I too wonder if having NP as a choice would have altered the outcome. I wish the same people could vote again (not counting the results, of course) just to see how NP truly does come into play as far as voting results go.

I think smaller buckets could work. You've got House and Grey's Anatomy and such, that's a fair number of medical shows.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

But people have argued that no preference DOESN'T alter the outcome, that it just bolsters quorum and that the majority of people who care will get what they want.

If you all now think that No Preference alters the outcome of votes, then I think we should definitely eliminate it.

I don't know if it does or not. I'm just curious as to whether NP voters picked a choice or abstained.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Maybe it would be good to have a brief of discussion of which network dramas people would like to discuss. IMO, I *love* the crime shows, but I think they don't generate as much discussion as say "grey's anatomy" (when the show is good).

Using this as the Fall tv guide (for new and continuing shows):

[link]

Here are the shows I'd like to discuss:

Pushing Daisies (saw the 1st ep and loved it)
Women's Murder Club (maybe)
Numb3rs
K-ville or Cane (whichever makes it)
CSI
Grey's Anatomy (I guess, but I might bail out of the show by the 3rd ep if I don't like the direction it is going)

The number isn't that large for me for some reason. I have zero interest in "Public Practice" but I wouldn't care if it was part of a bucket where I read discussion on other shows. I don't watch Cold Case and WAT anymore, but I also wouldn't care if that was part of a bucket where I was interested in other shows.

Compassionately intolerant

I voted against it not because I don't want those shows covered, but because I didn't want them in single bucket that large.

Drew speaks for me.

And, although it is not quite formed yet, I have a vague concern about genre buckets.

Since I watch everything on dvd, I've become too aware of the formulas behind shows I once liked (go team binge!viewing!) and have lost interest as a result. House and Bones. as examples.

Genre show discussions might get confusing. ("Whoa! I can't believe she shot him?" What? Who? Who shot whom?!That guy! You know, what'shisface, in the suit. Oooooh, you mean that guy on the that show that I'm not watching...)

But, frankly, I don't have another idea at the mo.

I'm getting the pig!

Or... and I'm just throwing this out there - what do people think about doing a poll where tv talk interested voters pick their top shows (2? 3?) that they REALLY want to talk about with fellow buffistas and the highest voted for shows get threads?

It's just an idea. The list of possible shows would be quite large, I'm sure.
