You really want more Howard Hawks movies then
Ahh cool. Good to know where the gaps in my cinematic knowledge are. I've seen
The Big Sleep
(loved it!) and
Bringing up Baby
(meh.)
but the rest of his catalogue is mostly stuff I've heard of but never seen. Now I only need to make a little space in my netflix queue. I love following trails through the past of popular culture.
I just read that Fox has green lit the 3rd Narnia film:
Voyage of the Dawntreader.
Laga - You might try The Quiet Man as well, since that's another romantic comedy with Wayne. With pretty locations in Ireland, instead of pretty locations in Africa. (It's plenty sexist as well, but it's very easy to read it as kinky.)
In fact, the latter is probably better. It's hard to imagine Maureen O'Hara playing a character with much patience for heavy sexism.
The Quiet Man is Ford, though, not Hawks. I think Ford's a better director, but he's not as funny.
I occasionally wonder which movie has the longer fight scene: The Quiet Man or They Live.

Here's hoping it doesn't annoy me as much as Caspian did.
Love
The Quiet Man.
As long as I don't analyze it too much.
Oh, I know it's not Hawks, but it is John Wayne.

Well, she thinks Wayne's not a real man unless he beats people up. So they both get to be equally sexist. But yeah, the first time I saw it I kept going, "Er, is this supposed to remind me of Secretary? Because, wow."
Total Film magazine's Watchmen article. Silk Spectre gets short shrift in her character bio.
