move out and draw fire

Yeah. And means that I have to throw myself bodily between my kid and any fire extinguishers he sees.

Details from a preview of a few clips from Terminator: Salvation. [link]

Has some spoilers since the two scenes shown at the preview are described, obviously. There's nothing in there I wouldn't expect to see in trailers, but my tolerance for spoilers is pretty high.

My favorite bit:

Credibility and realness was important to McG who insisted that the actors get to interact with actual robots instead of a tennis ball on a stick. This resulted in a couple injuries for Bale from punching the metal robots, but they'd have it no other way.

Variety is reporting that the Fox/Warner Bros. dispute over the rights to make the Watchmen movie has been settled with a large payoff to Fox. In addition to a cash payment between $5-10 million, plus payment of Fox’s legal fees,

Fox will get a gross participation in “Watchmen” that scales between 5% and 8.5%, depending on the film’s worldwide revenues. Fox also participates as a gross player in any sequels and spinoffs, sources said.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I watched The Fall last night. It was visually stunning and I liked Lee Pace and the little girl (adorable). It screamed pretentious pretty much in all of the story parts (some of which didn't work for me), but I'll forgive pretentious if it's OMGGorgeous. It's no Pan's Labyrinth, but overall I enjoyed it. That little Brothers Quay-esque bit after Alexandria falls off the cabinet was pretty sweet looking. Overall it kind of felt like a string of really cool music videos (which I believe is what Tarsem is known for). I found it rather thin story-wise.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

for some reason, I liked it better than PL - if you can believe it.

Well, PL was violent, dark, and grim. In contrast, TF was playful, lush, and ultimately hopeful. So I can see one appealing over the other. Personally I was much more drawn into the story in PL and I like those high stakes, dark kind of stories. Both films were just amazing to look at from a purely visual perspective.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I had to stop it in the VCR after 40 minutes because Alexandria was inspiring levels of annoyance I hadn't experienced since Short Round.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

yeah, PL was a bit too dark for me. if it hadn't dealt with kids, I think I would have taken it all a bit better.
