As is the
Cupid
episode "Hung Jury."
I [Rob Thomas] remained convinced that I could handle a 12 Angry Men-style bottle episode, but I ultimately proved myself wrong by attempting it on Veronica Mars and failing once again. I am unilaterally banning myself from any more attempts at a bottle episode in a jury room.
The "Charmed" version of 12 Angry Men is hilarious also.
I really enjoyed Burn After Reading - it's not up there with Fargo, but it's sharp and fast-paced and hysterically funny. JK Simmons is fantastically wonderful. Clooney does a great job parodying his Syriana character. Brad Pitt cracked me up.
An episode where all of the action takes place in one location, generally written to save money after a vfx or action-heavy ep.
I'm finally watching
Casino Royale.
I'm a bit disappointed that the best they could come up with for the villain banker is "Le Chiffre". Lame.
Isn't that what he was called in the book?
Very possible. If so, I think somehow that's even more disappointing.
I was watching
Caché
last night. I think it's one of the most boring movies I've ever seen. I stopped halfway. Is it worth continuing? I'm vaguely intrigued by the concept, but, God, is it slow.
I found it riveting, myself. But Haneke's a bitter pill of a filmmaker. I think he's as misanthropic as Von Trier, and sometimes I find his movies as revolting as I find some of Von Trier's. I liked Cache, though. It reminded me a bit of Cantet's Time Out, another movie that pretends to be a suspense film but isn't. Cantet's a much warmer filmmaker, though.
