I finally got around to seeing The Dark Knight tonight. Ledger was as electric as everyone said, but I was left feeling like Bale was making guest appearances in a movie when he was its nominal lead. Despite its length I never felt tired, or bored, but I did come out of it feeling vaguely unsatisfied and wishing Bale, Caine, and Freeman had shot another movie together during all the downtime they must have spent waiting around on the set of this one.
