That's my girl, large and in-charge. Okay, teensy-weensy and in charge.

Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Man, I miss smart comedy. With few exceptions, it seems like the only available flavors right now are either romantic comedies (ecch) or dumb-guy-kick-in-the-nuts comedies (ewww).

I think this leaves out the biggest names in comedy right now, the Apatovian crew. I didn't love Tropic Thunder but it also doesn't fit up there. Same with, say, Juno. I think smart comedy is pretty healthy right now, but will always be somewhat endangered because it doesn't do well overseas.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Okay! Can we watch A Knight's Tale, too?

Hell yeah! After all, I own it.

Men With Brooms? Contains Paul Gross. Naked. That's usually enough of a draw for peeps. Plus, it's a sports comedy about CURLING. How awesome is that?

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Does Hot Fuzz count as smart?

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I enjoy Men With Brooms! Lesse, we've got naked Paul Bellamy in AKT, naked Paul Gross in MWB... We need more naked time movies.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I liked BD and FC. But I think I like Men with Brooms better than either one.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Slap Shot's my favorite sports movie after Bull Durham. Then the original Bad News Bears.

Men with Brooms

ack I can't get on Netflix to add it. In fact I can't seem to get on any website except b.org and google. Is this because I downloaded that Fall Out Boy mixtape yesterday?

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Speaking of Hot Fuzz, I'm a recent convert to the Brit-com Spaced. That's the latest thing I've seen that's made me really laugh.

I am looking forward to seeing the new Coen brothers film (Burn This After Reading is the title, right?), because it looks like goofy fun with lots of big names.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Burn This After Reading

Filmed in my neighborhood! (As a stand-in for Georgetown).

“Not dead yet!”

Then the original Bad News Bears.

The original Bad News Bears completely rocks. I'm so glad to see Jackie Earle Haley back in the acting game.

Men With Brooms is classic. And has nekkid Paul Gross.
