Stardust is getting good reviews, and some comparisons to Princess Bride.
Nobody's quite loving Deniro's performance, though.
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

I'm going to see Stardust tomorrow with a friend.
I thought that the Stardust trailers looked really good -- is that movie out now?
I saw Stardust and LOVED it. K-Bug and I are going again this afternoon with one of her friends and CJ.

Really? I thought it was hysterical. I mean, it was De Niro playing De Niro, but in a very Priscilla-meets-Brazil way. Captain Shakespeare is nothing like the book, but it's clear De Niro was having fun, and he's charming in the role.
Your issues may vary. I had to divorce the movie from the book in my head, but I enjoyed both of them very much.
They're doing a noir remake of Enter the Dragon.

Hmmm...
Titled "Awaken the Dragon," the remake will put a noir-ish spin to the original story. It centers on an FBI agent who hunts down a rogue Shaolin monk into the dark, violent underground world of martial arts fight clubs.
If I recall, the plot of the original EtD was, BRUCE LEE rips off his shirt, and kicks some major ass, because he's BRUCE LEE. I'm not sure how that translates to a remake.

Chairman Kaga was in there too. But with his shirt on.

I haven't seen it yet, so I'm just reporting the early critical consensus.

Yeah, that's pretty much the point. It's like remaking Top Hat without Fred Astaire. Not. Replaceable.
I pimp Avatar to everyone who will stand still long enough to listen, and especially people who have or are buying for kids. I can't wait for the next season to start.
Avataaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar!!! I don't think I knew you were among us Buffista Avatar fans. We are legion, it seems.

Really? IGN thinks it's practically Oscar-worthy.

Yes. After I read the book, which has an almost completely different third act (if the book even has any sense of traditional plot structure at all), I decided to like them both as separate entities because I really liked the movie...possibly more, in some cases.
