Jayne: That's a good idea. Good idea. Tell us where the stuff's at so I can shoot you. Mal: Point of interest? Offering to shoot us might not work so well as an incentive as you might imagine.

Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

“Not dead yet!”

Another non-Williams-esque Williams score? Empire of the Sun.

Jeez, it's been forever since I heard that one-- I was just listening through a greatest hits CD that I have and Sugarland Express, the main theme, at any rate, also struck me as being very different.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Whoa, I wanna see this.

Technotise - Serbian animated science fiction movie. Looks gorgeous and cool badass heroine.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Mind you, now that I think about it, other than Claudia, Little Timmy Valentine from Vampire Junction, and, er, whatshertoes in the first Anita Blake novel, I can't think of many other examples of vampire children.

I think a child vampire turned the guy who turned Genieve in Kim Newman's novel.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I'm amazed how many people don't know how to pronounce Elegy.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

the hard G is most common but I've also heard the long E and for some reason, "Ellery."

Even after a huge amount of buildup Tropic Thunder managed to deliver big with the funny. I was surprised to find myself the only one laughing at the Apocalypse Now refence in a theatre with nearly 200 people. They seemed to enjoy the surprise guest star most of all.

wow. A little kid just walked by the Bottle Shock standee and said, "don't like him!" His Mom, understandably confused asked, "don't like who, honey?" "Snape." That kid's got a good eye. Here's how Rickman looks on the standee.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Tropic Thunder was great fun. Loved RDJ (OF COURSE) and was happily surprised by Matthew McConaughey.

Also saw Death Race. Not great but we weren't looking for great or even, well, good. Loud, illogical, and too much herky-jerky camera flash but many good crashes. Despite Jason Statham's incredibly impressive physique, I have to give the edge in lust-ability to Ian McShane. Rowr.

I've been hearing even the most rabid Statham fans should skip Death Race 'cause it's just so awful.
