Tropic Thunder was great fun. Loved RDJ (OF COURSE) and was happily surprised by Matthew McConaughey.
Also saw Death Race. Not great but we weren't looking for great or even, well, good. Loud, illogical, and too much herky-jerky camera flash but many good crashes. Despite Jason Statham's incredibly impressive physique, I have to give the edge in lust-ability to Ian McShane. Rowr.
I've been hearing even the most rabid Statham fans should skip Death Race 'cause it's just so awful.
Willie Waffle gave it half a waffle (out of four.) I won't say I trust his judgement completely, but I'll take him over Roger Ebert any day.
One day I'm going to watch all the Statham movies, regardless of quality.
Finally saw TDK. Count me in the camp that loved Heath and Gary's...well, the performances in general all worked for me. It gut-punched when it was supposed to, mostly, although it did feel a bit long--I bought the Joker's first capture as some sort of end, so I had a restart feeling there. And a very sad one.
I'll say it again, if you'd told me pre-Batman Begins that Gary Oldman would play the definitive Jim Gordon, I'd have laughed and laughed. I didn't think he'd be bad for it, I just didn't think he'd be that good in the part.
So I watched Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly in a week. I'm not generally a fan of Westerns, but they were good stuff, and they got progressively better. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly was particularly awesome, as it had a pretty clever plot, and it was also pretty funny. It could have used some more The Bad, though. It was more The Good, the Ugly, and the Bad, which, appropriately enough, is what the Italian title actually translates to.
Also, The Good and The Ugly are clearly soulmates.

His last movie was a Uwe Boll Medieval hack & slash videogame movie though, so I can see how this one might seem a step up.

A couple of questions that strike me: have you seen Yojimbo & Sanjuro? Have you seen Once Upon A Time In The West? Are you interested in seeing more Westerns and need recommendations?
No, no, no, not exactly. That is, I thought these were good Westerns, but I have no burning desire to watch more unless I have to. There are many more non-Westerns I'm interested in.
