No studying? Damn! Next thing they'll tell me is I'll have to eat jelly doughnuts or sleep with a supermodel to get things done around here. I ask you, how much can one man give?

Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

My opinion is that it needed to be mentioned early on and then left alone until the reveal

I don't think that the Two-Face nickname itself provided any new information; it was just there as a setup. We knew that he wasn't very well liked by the other officers because, well, no one likes when Internal Affairs comes in and indicts your friends. And the thing is, he was RIGHT. There WERE a bunch of corrupt cops on the force, so I don't think he's not supposed to be Mr. Pureheart White Knight, entirely. I think we were pretty much supposed to see him as a good guy.

brillig

I thought in the comic books Dent was a white knight due to the fact that he fought so hard to resist what he saw as his own dark side.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I was a little surprised to see Bruce [whitefont redacted]

*chokes on coffee* You know what it reminded me of? Velvet Goldmine. I'm sure someone else has said it, but were you also expecting hearts in his eyes and a declaration that "You could be my main man."?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

P-C, that's from the last movie, yeah? Because without having seen BB, I think the nickname scene was the first I'd heard of him being IA, or there being strife there beyond any normal cop/prosecutor stuff. A nod to that stuff up front would've helped, I think.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

were you also expecting ...

His eyes did seem awfully twinkly.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

There was mention of Harvey being in IA near the beginning of the movie, though I forget exactly which scene.

Compassionately intolerant

Mentioning BB reminded me of the headtwist of complete throw away of Cillian Murphy in the parking garage. Whattha? Did I miss the part where he started paying for his sins ?

The rest of the movie was so...um...arresting, that I totally forgot about that bit until just this second.

I think he was on the ferry too and I liked being reminded of him because compared to Joker I found him about as scary as a housecat.

No, it was early on in the movie, and it was a constant source of tension between Gordon and him. He knew Gordon's team had corrupt cops because he had investigated them for IA, and that's why he was so royally pissed at Gordon when Rachel got killed because it was one of his corrupt cops who took her.
