And Kaylee, what the hell's goin' on in the engine room? Were there monkeys? Some terrifying space monkeys maybe got loose?

Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Art Crawl!!!

First 5 minutes of the Dark Knight I hope.

And a poster

ETA: It doesn't say so but nothing comes up so I guess they've had to take the clip down.

Best scathing review of a Will Smith movie ever: [link]

Heh.

On edit: I should warn you, it spoils Hancock something awful.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I'ma not read it, I don't want to be spoiled. But Willie Waffle only gave it two waffles! It's Will Smith! Put him on film and take his shirt off and that's at least three waffles right there! Uh, bad reviewers, no biscuit.

I saw Hancock today, and that review is not far from wrong. I don't feel that level of hatred, but the points he picks...yeah, not wrong.

My love of Will Smith allowed me to handwave a lot of that away. I mean, how often do you get a drunk, rude, super hero Fresh Prince?

We saw WALL*E today. I did, much like Jessica, spend most of the movie with my hands pressed to my face and trying not to squeeeeee out loud. It was fantastic. And oh, Pixar! You have made my favorite short cartoon ever. Ever, ever, ever.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Hee, Jilli. I got the impression someone at Pixar had played a lot of Portal.

Ha! I didn't even make that connection, PC. I was too busy going "Bunny! Awwww, bunny! Oooh, top hat! Bunny!" Clovis is going to love it.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Isn't it WONDERFUL? And so rich, visually and emotionally. Not just the main characters are well-drawn but the supporting cast too-- I almost died from the button-pushing security machine first figuring out what a wave was and then waving madly at Wall-E and Eve when they left his area.

I must see it again, this time much more carefully. There's so much going on without words.
