That may have been the crew falling asleep from boredom and banging into things. Entirely understandable considering the dialogue they had to listen to all day. The movie's idea of tension is having Marky Mark and Zooey running away from...WIND! I haven't laughed that hard since the characters in Day After tomorrow outran deadly frost.

Perhaps, but I wouldn't count on it. There were elements to Lady in the Water that may have worked with better execution, but in the case of The Happening, I can't see how anything could have improved this story. Really, the biggest shock is how terrible the script is--in the past, Night has proven himself capable of writing believable characters and dialogue that doesn't make you howl with unintentional laughter. At times, I found myself wondering whether the whole movie was some kind of elaborate practical joke, but I don't think that guy has a sense of humor...

I'll still see it for myself. I passed on LitW because of the overwhelmingly negative critical reviews and word-of-mouth, rented it, and my entire family fell in love with it.

I really like LitW too, Juliebird. in fact, i've liked all of M. Night's movies. and that includes Unbreakable. i wish it had been made into a trilogy like was first discussed.

See, I really liked The Village, which got the same sort of OMG WHAT A STUPID TWIST HA HA response here, so I don't know.
Except Lady in the Water actually was pretty bad. So there's that. I've liked all his other movies, though.
I do have a few free tickets to use this summer.

I didn't watch LitW - because I heard it was generally hated. I didn't mind "The Village", but I saw the twist(s) coming from a mile away.
I've seen the other movies and liked them well enough I suppose. I didn't hate Unbreakable.
