I am the fly who dreams of the spider

It is the red band trailer for Tropic Thunder.

vanguard of the socialist Hollywood liberal homosexualist agenda

I saw the green band trailer for Tropic Thunder, and at the time I thought it was going to be a parody of war movies, and I actually kind of wanted to see it. (At the time, I didn't realize that RDJ was supposed to look black.)

When I saw the red band trailer and realized that it was a parody about actors, who happen to be making a war movie (plus the fake!black thing), that pretty much went away.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Shit. Sydney Pollack died. [link] He always looked so hail and hearty. Anthony Minghella and now Pollack. Bad year for directors.

So Indy. It was a lot slower than I had prepared myself for.

Cate Blanchette's character was very Dr. Girlfriend, wasn't she? Despite the fact that she didn't have a masculine voice; her demeanor just struck me as very Dr. Girlfriend. (That might have just been me.)

And, really? Isn't there already going to be an X-Files movie this summer? I was spoiled and knew that the thing they were chasing was an alien skull, but it just didn't work for me.

There were a lot of moments where Indy didn't feel like Indy (the character) to me. Like the scene when the college Dean just told him that he has to take an enforced sabbatical, and he's sitting behind his desk in shirtsleeves looking at the pictures of Marcus and his dad -- he didn't feel like Professor Jones to me; he felt like Jack Ryan, or whatever president he was supposed to have been in Air Force One. He didn't feel like Indy in scholarly drag, which he did in the other movies. It was weird.

That said, the movie *was* fun, which was all I really had hoped, so I call it a win.

oh that's exactly who she was! I kept thinking Natasha the whole movie through but I knew that wasn't quite right.

Regarding your whitefont, I think after twenty years you wear the drag all too well .

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Really? I love: Dr. Girlfriend, Cate Blanchett and shiny black bobs.

I expect I'll have to go.

Now tagless for your comfort.

While in NYC I walked through the movie set of the remake of The Taking of Pelham 123. Lots of cop cars and motorcycles, saw the makeup and costume trailers but no sign of Denzel Washington or John Travolta.

Definitely the Natasha accent, but the Dr. Girlfriend demeanor.

after twenty years

Well, this is true. And I love that the movie never tried to even pretend that Indy was younger and more spry. They just went with the fact that Harrison Ford is in his 60s, and bless his heart, he's pretty fucking spry for a 60-something-year-old. Also eternally HOTTTT.

And yet, he was just lacking some essential Indy-ness in some of the scenes. I can't explain it.

I liked Mutt, but I hope to god Lucas doesn't intend to set him up as Indy's cinematic successor. He was fun, but not *that* much fun.

The ending, of course, pleased me immensely. I may have sniffled.

No trailer for The Dark Knight, which annoyed me all out of proportion. I just wanted to see it LARGE, damn it!
