Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

It's excellent. Pete and I were talking about it last night.

My eyes kind of bugged out when I read it, but you're right. He's got that sort of rugged, haggard thing going on that'll work for the character. Nice.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

From ita's link (I keep clicking on them ... I don't know why):

Monty Python's Flying Circus features a sketch with an exploding penguin. There was no visible biological reason, nor explosives; it was just eight o'clock

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

You click on them because they provide unpredictable reward. It's a conditioning technique.

Pay no attention to the blonde behind the curtain.

Intermittant reinforcement ... you been taking lessons from my family?

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I didn't know that birds could explode in gigantic fireballs.

I think it would require lots of them flying into the engine intakes of jet aircraft. Which I'm sure we'll see in the remake.

hip deep in pie

But, then, I'm the person who, while watching P&P, was thinking that Colin Firth would have made a terribly interesting Sirius.

While watching HP:TOOP, I found myself wondering when Colin Firth was going to get cast in these movies.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Peter Greene picked up on crack charges.

He's always had a freaky intensity.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Sue, we had that conversation, but, barring new characters in 7, there doesn't seem to be a place for him. Woe!

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Hey I forgot but someone mentioned watching the first half of Catch and Release and not really loving it. That was an odd little movie but I would recommend renting it to find out how it turns out. There were a couple of twists and turns and in the end I was really glad I'd watched it, silly cliches and all.
