Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
That said, I hope they do a BIG LEBOWSKI/O BROTHER style fun movie next.
The next film they have listed on IMDb is called "Burn After Reading," and stars Clooney and Pitt, and seems to be a comedy.
I can imagine doing that if I had a blood squick regardless of the expectations I had for the theme of the movie.
The blood hadn't even really started yet. Except for that in the credits (which I loved loved loved).
I also thought of Jilli during the beach fantasy.
It's way less gross than The Libertine.
True that.
Wait, does that mean the Gris is really Pete?
Well, I've never seen the two of them in the same room at the same time...
I guess she thought it would be a feel good movie about murder and cannibalism.

Oh, people. Why are you so silly?

Right. I read that somewhere, but forgot about it (maybe a Clooney interview) and it is a comedy. I just hope it's more of a BIG LEBOWSKI comedy rather than a LADYKILLERS (or even INTOLERABLE CRUELTY) comedy.
The kids want me to take them to see Alvin and the Chipmunks this afternoon. I'm scared.
Oh, people. Why are you so silly?
Well, like I said, I knew it wasn't going to be a feel-good movie but was rather shocked by how bleak and very sad it was. I thought it would be more darkly comedic.
My sister laughed out loud through much of it.
My sister laughed out loud through much of it.
I thought there were funny parts but, god, mostly it just was so sad. (I did like it though I can't imagine wanting to see it again!)
(FTR, I was also very disturbed by the senseless deaths throughout Pirates III which I just watched yesterday so maybe I'm just in a mood.)
Was I supposed to care about the death in Pirates III? I was sat looking at my watch thinking 'This is just delaying the ending! Stop already!'. They had possibly lost my attention by that point.
Atonement wins for a seven minute one shot with 2000 or so extras. The script is a little wonky in places and Ikea Knightley is annoying as ever, but it mostly works.
