And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

There was an article about Keanu way back when (maybe when the first Matrix came out) that talked about how his "serene blankness" made it easy to cast him as a higher being. It seems counterintuitive at first, but it actually makes complete sense.

t /Keanu fangirl and only slightly embarrassed about it

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

You know the scene in TTtEST when Klaatu goes to the blackboard to correct the scientist's theoretical physics formulas? I think I might laugh when Keanu does that.

Actually, his "serene blankness" might work well for Klaatu.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I need to reread Watchmen with picture galleries of those actors next to me. Good on Gugino, though. I like that one for sure.

It's the added infusion of Keanu.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

So I waited until I saw the movie before I read the books, because I didn't want to hate the movie. Anyhoo, I'm reading His Dark Materials and boy-howdy is it fun. It moves.

But the main reason I'm here is because I just cast Jude Law as the angel Balthamos. I've just met the character, but for some reason Gigalo Joe popped into my head.

hmmm, maybe this was better for Literary. Movies based on books makes my head spin, especially when talking about both in the same paragraph.

Also, I was truly heartbroken to find that Lord Asriel doesn't play a much seen part in the movie/stories. It's freaking pivotal, but he's an adult, therefore he gets short shrift. Damn them for casting Daniel Craig, because I just want to see MORE of him! One thing that struck me was his voice: half the time he didn't sound English in the least. I kept expecting his Layered Cake/James Bond voice to show up, and then I get something that sounded... Midwestern? New England? Very strange.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

He was perfect as Jonathan Harker in Dracula, because the character is *supposed* to be a lame-o, blandy bland TOOL.

All I can think of now when I hear about or watch that movie is how Gary Oldman couldn't stand Winona Ryder. Because I heart GO and despise WR. But Keanu still holds a place in my heart, even if he does fall flat and monotone most of the time.
