We went to a preview screening of Sweeney Todd last night. I'm not sure what sort of audience goes to previews, whether the theater was mostly people familiar with musicals, or the Deppaholics. Either way, the audience was delighted, loudly.

I tend to avoid slasher movies myself, and the amount of fake blood onscreen was... impressive. But it was a great deal of fun. Sitting next to me was a fan of the adaptation with Angela Lansbury; her only complaint was the missing opening song. (I wasn't fond of HBC's singing, but she didn't seem to mind.)

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

MM, isn't that HO. HO. HO.?

Hm. You're right.

HO. HO. HO.

(I love that book.)

One of my favorites. And the movie is surprisingly true to it.

Part 1 was last night. Part 2 is tonight, so I will be commandeering the TeeVee from 9 - 11.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Hee. It's so weird, because I saw it last year when it aired in the U.K. It's one of my favorite Discworld books too, MM.

I'm seeing Sweeney tomorrow!

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Wait... what? There's a Hogfather movie?

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Ash: you didn't happen to be at the new Arclight did you?

BBC production, last year. Two-part miniseries. Low budget. Very pretty Susan.

Also, they're doing The Colour of Magic/The Light Fantastic as a single movie to be released Easter 2008. I will probably watch it, even though Hogfather wasn't as great as I wanted it to be. It's something, though.

According to IMDb there's also a Soul Music movie, a Wyrd Sisters movie (both animated, looks like).

I thought I heard, or read on the Internet (Our motto: "Only the truth! Ish!") that there was talk of a movie based on either Guards! Guards! or Men at Arms, I'm not sure which.

Which begs the question: Who would you cast as Sam Vimes?

I think it was Sky. Which, call me a snob, but it makes me a bit wary.

Oh, sorry. You're probably right.

What makes you wary about Sky? I thought the entire production was tonally inconsistent and off, like they were both trying to be too serious and didn't know how to make the humor in the book actually funny. But Susan was pretty, and there was some good stuff scattered throughout.

you didn't happen to be at the new Arclight did you?

No, just a small southern mall theater.
