Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Metropolis To Be Remade

Producer Thomas Schuehly (Alexander) has acquired the remake rights to Fritz Lang's classic SF movie Metropolis and is partnering with Mario Kassar on an updated version of the 1927 movie, Variety reported.

The Munich-based Schuehly and Kassar are currently in negotiations with a number of top directors to helm the movie, with a final decision expected in the next few months.

Schuehly obtained the rights to the film from Vienna-based publishing group Sessler Verlag.

Metropolis To Be Remade

I'm very conflicted about this. The fact that it is being produced by the guy who produced Alexander does not give me much hope.

Oh.

My.

God.

Preview for Machine Girl. Warning - very gory.

Features "yakuza ninjas, flying guillotines, a drill bra, a Japanese teenage schoolgirl..."

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Um.... how effective is a flying guillotine, really? That's like throwing a cheese grater across a room, on a slightly larger scale.

Now, the guillotine blade without the apparatus, okay, but generally speaking we call that a knife.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

that looks more like a serrated yarmulke than a guillotine.

It'll cut your head off, Jim.

Hey, you can see it in action with some great hyperbole: [link]

In fact, the whole movie is on YouTube. If you have the patience, it's definitely worth it. It's a classic kung fu flick, full of cheesy fun and the occasional shocking cruelty. Plus the Neu! track that accompanies the Master of the Flying Guillotine when he's on the move is ultra-creepy, not to mention ultra-improbable, given that maybe 7 people outside of Germany knew who Neu! was at the time.

That movie just got added to the top of my Netflix queue.
